Brick Painting & Staining in Bloomington-Normal
Orange, dated, or patched-together brick can look brand new. We'll help you choose between paint and stain, then prep and coat it so it lasts.

Paint or stain?
Both change the color of your brick. They work differently, and the right choice depends on your home.
- Brick stain soaks into the masonry instead of sitting on top, so it can't peel. The texture and variation of the brick still show through for a natural look. It's our usual recommendation when the brick is in good shape.
- Brick paint gives a solid, uniform color, like the classic white-brick look. We use breathable masonry coatings so moisture can escape instead of getting trapped behind the paint.

How we prep brick
- Inspect first: we check mortar joints, spalling, and any signs of moisture problems before recommending a coating.
- Clean: dirt, efflorescence (white mineral deposits), and mildew are removed so the coating bonds.
- Repair: loose or failing spots are addressed before any color goes on.
- Work it into the texture: rough, textured brick takes extra time to get full coverage in every groove, and we don't skip it.

Brick painting questions
Is it bad to paint brick?
Not when it's done right. Problems come from non-breathable paint that traps moisture, or from painting brick that has water issues. We use breathable masonry products and check for moisture problems first.
How long does painted or stained brick last?
Stain doesn't peel, so it tends to age gracefully. Quality masonry paint over properly prepped brick holds up for many years. We'll talk through what to expect for your specific home.
Can you paint just the brick and leave the siding?
Yes, or we can coordinate the brick with new siding and trim colors for a whole-house update.
